Christmas Tree Fundraiser
After hand-delivering almost 800 leaflets, The TCS Foundation raised £1,005 through our Christmas Tree Delivery initiative — enough to fund four more young people on our mentoring programme.
In the run up to this Christmas, after hand delivering almost 800 leaflets, The TCS Foundation has raised £1,005 through our Christmas Tree Delivery initiative!
These funds will go towards funding our bespoke 12-week mentoring programme for young people aged 13–18.
With each programme forecast to cost £240, we will be able to enter the new year ready to support four more young people.
But why?
Just under two-thirds of children who are permanently excluded from school are from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Young people that grow up without suitable support are too often unable to productively engage with the education system.
I know that first hand — from bouncing around 4 secondary schools, getting excluded left, right and centre, and looking up to the wrong influences.
This heavily impacted my mental health, GCSE grades, and even my place in society. Had I not been able to redirect myself, I, like too many of our young people, would have ended up socially excluded and most probably in prison.
The TCS Foundation exists, amongst other things, to eliminate the absence of suitable role models for our young people — aiming to catch them as they fall between the gaps of our education system, preventing them from being excluded from school and society.
If you would like to be a mentor and be a part of real, tangible change, do not hesitate to get in touch.
